What teachers and school leaders ask.
Free teacher access, classroom use, curriculum fit, privacy, evidence, and school partnerships.
Trying StarCoach with your class
Yes. The first two Coaching Workshops in each unit are marked Free and available to test and assign. The plan includes 30 student Workshop sessions every 30 days, with no credit card or trial deadline.
Create an educator account, then create your class, choose a workshop, students start their workshop.
No student email is required. Students enter the class code and their teacher-assigned PIN in a browser. Their last name is stored only as an initial.
StarCoach runs in a modern browser and requires no app download. It is designed to work on the school devices students already use, including Chromebooks running Chrome.
You can create and explore your educator account independently. Before using any student technology, follow your school or district’s approval, privacy, and instructional-technology requirements.
Your account, classes, history, and existing student work remain available. A new allowance of 30 student workshop sessions every 30 days becomes available at the next reset. Schools and education partners can also contact us about broader use.
How StarCoach supports learning
StarCoach gives every student a personal math coach that helps them develop mathematical thinking, gain confidence, and achieve proficiency. Teachers choose the Workshops, students, and cadence.
Adaptive practice assigns more problems. On-demand tutors wait for a student to bring a question. StarCoach uses expert-designed Coaching Workshops to develop transferable mathematical thinking over time. Teachers choose the Workshops, students, and cadence.
Each 15–30-minute Workshop focuses on a core mathematical knowledge component or misconception. Students solve, explain, sketch on the scratchpad, and respond to one focused coaching question or hint at a time. Teachers can assign the Workshop to a class, group, or individual student.
StarCoach is designed for all students. Schools use it for Algebra 1 readiness, grade-level learning, multilingual learner support, unfinished learning, and intervention. Teachers choose the Workshops and cadence based on each student’s needs.
Fit with the way your school teaches
Yes. StarCoach coaches the underlying mathematical knowledge components and misconceptions, then connects them to the curriculum a school already uses. The current library aligns with IM 6–8 and related curricula, including Amplify Desmos Math and Kendall Hunt, while StarCoach remains curriculum-agnostic by design.
A teacher assigns targeted Workshops and students begin working with their personal coach. While StarCoach supports individual questions and gaps, the teacher gains time to meet directly with small groups and decide what each student should work on next.
Students can select unfamiliar math terms for an in-context explanation with meaning, examples, and cognates in multiple languages, including Spanish. The goal is to keep students engaged with the mathematics while building the language needed to explain their thinking.
Yes. The conversation and scratchpad make student reasoning visible—not only the final answer. Teachers can see where understanding breaks down and use that evidence to decide what support or Workshop comes next.
Starting safely and evaluating results
We begin with a focused student cohort, a clear instructional goal, and a defined period of use. Teachers choose the Workshops and cadence. School leaders review engagement, classroom experience, and student outcomes before deciding whether to expand.
A 120-student Grade 8 cohort used StarCoach in a two-week pilot. The cohort’s SBA math pass rate rose from 23.5% to 31.8% year over year—an 8.3 percentage-point gain and a 35% relative increase. The principal then adopted StarCoach schoolwide for 12 months. This is a year-over-year cohort comparison, not a randomized or controlled study.
Yes. StarCoach supports Clever single sign-on and rostering to reduce setup work for schools.
StarCoach supports school privacy requirements including FERPA, COPPA, and district data privacy agreements. We do not sell student data or use it for advertising. See the Privacy page for the complete policy.
Available supports include read-aloud, multilingual assistance, and display controls. We work with schools to support accessible implementation and document current capabilities on the Accessibility page.
